Digital Fashion Week – Summer Edition
In response to requests from many brands and retailers, Fashion Cloud decided to support the wholesale community in their order processes and is launching its ‘Digital Fashion Week – Summer Edition’. The digital fair will take place from 28-30 July, 2020 and will include live streams showing presentations of brands’ collections.
Since the Corona crisis hit, Fashion Cloud received strong encouragement from its wholesale community: downloads of marketing material and product data rose by 550% and new initiatives launched in response to the crisis were well perceived: The webinar series “Retailer Exchange in Times of Corona” has reached an audience of over 1000 participants so far. With this in mind, many suppliers approached Fashion Cloud as they are looking for new ways to present their collection and provide an opportunity to order.
“Getting an overview of the different brand collections remains crucial – especially in times of limit cuts. When the actual order phase is starting and orders are placed, most limits per brand are already decided upon. Hence, it needs some place where retailers find inspiration and gain an overview of a brand’s collection”, says Alies ter Kuile, member of the management board. In the past, trade fairs were responsible for gaining this overview but are now being cancelled. Being experienced with digital solutions in the fashion industry, Fashion Cloud did not hesitate for long and thought about how to move offline fairs to an online environment. With retailers from more than 85 countries and brands from various areas, Fashion Cloud sees a huge advantage of offering one, international event. “This is basically our DNA. We look at processes, digitalise them and – on top – make them more efficient by hosting it on one central platform”, ter Kuile continues.
The fair is planned to have 2-3 main-streams available for everybody as well as brand sessions where suppliers can show collections to a selected audience. After and during the fair a ‘digital booth’ will ensure that retailers who missed a presentation can watch an on-demand video of the live presentations. Moreover, retailers will get an overview of a brand’s collection with a selection of 3D images and information where to order it.
The event will take place from the 28th of July until the 30th of July. The Digital Fashion Week is meant to be a non-profit event. It’s free for retailers. Brands can choose between different packages and will receive a lead list from all retailers that are interested in buying the collection. ‘Digital Fashion Week’ will be backed by Fashion Cloud’s strong brand network but is open for further suppliers. Brands can apply from May 4th onwards. We are also looking forward to including further partners that would like to contribute to the success of ‘Digital Fashion Week’.
